Phoenix Comicon 2014 Is Almost Here
In about 3 1/2 week, Phoenix Comicon starts. It runs from June 5-8. Unlike past years, it will not be over Memorial Day weekend due to conflicts at the convention center.
To help improve the con, the staff is working more on quality than quantity. Instead of going for a lot of little guest stars, they’ve worked on getting a lower number of high quality ones. Here is a list of some of the ones who will be there.
- John Barrowman (Doctor Who, Torchwood)
- Bruce Campbell (Army of Darkness, Brisco County Jr., Jack of All Trades)
- Adam West (Batman)
- Burt Ward (Batman)
- Julie Newmar (Batman)
- Nathan Fillion (Firefly, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog)
- Eliza Dushku (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Tru Calling, Dollhouse)
- David Yost, Austin St. John, Walter Jones (Mighty Morphing Power Rangers)
- Mark Sheppard (Supernatural, Warehouse 13)
- John Rhys-Davies (Sliders)
- Richard Dean Anderson (MacGyver)
And for the comic fans
- Stan Lee (If you don’t know…
- Todd McFarlane (Spawn)
- Chris claremont (X-Men – comics)
- Mark Bagley (New Warriors, Thunderbolts – comics)
As for my input, I’ll be working the LGBT comics panel again this year. I’m working to get more professionals of some level on the panel. One day I hope to get some of the big comic names on it. I’m also trying to get a panel to discuss DC’s New 52 universe, how it’s doing, and how it compares to the pre-New 52 universe. This should be a fun time. I also hope to improve on my Starman costume and make another showing this year.
They are expecting a much higher attendance than ever this year. I can’t wait to see how it goes. I just hope things go smoother than the Saturday last year when security fell apart. If you show up and see me, come on over and say hi. I look forward to meeting some of my readers.
