Release Date Finally Announced for New Pokémon Snap
Back in 1999, I had my Nintendo 64 and had a blast taking pictures of Pokémon in the original Pokémon Snap. The challenge of getting just the right angle and trying to get the Pokémon to do special stuff was a lot of fun. For 20 years, I hoped Nintendo would do a sequel to the game but nothing was in sight. Then in 202, they announced New Pokémon Snap (Ok, not the most original name.) and that it would be out by the end of the year. December 31 came and went and the preorder pages updated to the end of 2021. Not very encouraging. Well, Nintendo finally released a new trailer for the game and an actual release date of April 30, 2021. In 3 ½ months, my wait will finally be over.
Looking at the trailer, there’s a good variety of Pokémon from across the generations. The movement mechanic seems to be pretty much the same with the floating cart that you’re sitting in to keep you moving across each of the islands so you can’t just stand and wait for the right picture. The avatar is shown with both male and female options this time though, if there wasn’t, it would be pretty lame in this day and age. They show a luminous Meganium that you c an get a picture of. I’m unsure yet if this is only for specific Pokémon in the game or if there’s a random chance that any of them might be like that. I’m sure we’ll get more information as time goes on but I’m really looking forward to this game. Now I just need to see who might have interesting pre-order bonuses for the game.
